2008 Fox Fork Sale

The 2009 Fox forks will be avaliable in a month or so, so we are having a sale on our remaining 2008s. The sale is for what we have in stock only.

The big change for the 2009 is the 15mm axle standard, on the 32mm forks, which gets rid or the 9mm QR axle.

Receive Total Consciousness even before You Kick the Can

Not sure if you many of you have seen Caddshack or not? If you need some help with understanding the Carl Spackler (Bill Murray) quote, youtube always comes to the rescue. Its a great comedy from the 80s with classics scenes as; Cinderella Man, License to kill gophers, and the gopher.

No need to get the Dali Lama to give you any special blessings though, to understand the beauty of a well designed single pivot suspension. Just check out the Morewood frames here or come by the shop.

The frames ride nice and lively and the SP2 pivots don't develop slop like other manufacturers. Can't race on a single pivot? - tell that to Steve Peat (he use to ride for Orange). Or better yet check out the results from Bromont and Tremblant this year- you'll see Morewoods on the podium in both events.

Need to be persuaded otherwise? Take a typical multilinkage design...you have 6 to 8 bearings in the rear suspension. Wanna get those bearings replaced - it will cost 60 to 120 bucks to get all the bearings and add in 60 to 80 in shop labour. That's a lot of dollars whereas the Morewood takes exactly 2 at 15 bucks and are very easy to access to minimize labour at 25 bucks.

From the Morewood site

There’s an old African fable that describes our approach to bike-building perfectly…

A little boy sat on a stump, contemplating a chunk of wood in his hand.

"What are you going to do with that?" his father asked.

"I’m going to carve an elephant," the boy said, confidently.

"Do you know how to go about carving an elephant?"

"Easy," the boy replied. "All I have to do is cut away everything that does not look like an elephant."

If less parts = less maintenance = more time to ride, we build the bike with less parts.

We don't have the financial means to carry the entire line this year (hopefully next year that will change). But we brought in the Mbuzis and Shova STs to stock and can order the other frames. Kent and I will both be riding a Mbuzi this year too, so if you are by the shop and want to try one, don't be afraid to ask.

"Yah, I suck" as I am digressing from our hardtail roots but I am 42 and its getting harder each year to steer my Endless down the hill. So this year I am getting a bit of suspension help!

Be sure to read the other news as we have received some new products in the last few weeks

The top five products from last week or so are;

  1. 5/10 Shoes
  2. Transition Blindsides
  3. Hope Pro II Hubs
  4. Formula Brakes
  5. Sombrio Rev Shorts and JT Jerseys

Seasons In Stock

So if you missed the premiere you can now get the DVD. We had a bunch in stock and are down to about three but should have a few more in next week.

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported OMBA. We have a great turnout with around 100 people at the show.

Kranked - the Cackle Factor is also on the shelves now. I have no idea what it is like.Though my son just grabbed the DVD off the shelf so I will check it out in the next few days.

Prices Going Up

Lots of talk in the industry now about the pricing of bikes and parts going up next year in the range of 10 to 20%. Its all about gas and the increase in shipping costs and somewhat raw materials.

We are already seeing some price changes a bit of it on our side when distributors restock an item. I think the big price will be on completes from China and Taiwan

PBR Bottlerocket - belly up to the bar with this baby

Transition did a limited run of Pabst Blue Ribbon Bottlerockets. We got into the email lottery to see if we get one but have not heard back yet. Hopefully we'll have a medium in stock in the near future.

Blindsides - came and gone

Wow - we got the blindsides in a couple of weeks ago and are now all out. We had the orange and white frames in med....Transition is even out except for small raw frames. Should be a month or so before we get more in stock.

A good note - we did finally track down some white rev rims and they should be here late next week.

NS District Bars

Nice Cromo bars from NS arrived. I did not update the site yet but they go for 75 + tax. We gave white, yellow and black in both rises in stock.

The bar is 66cm wide and is available in two heights - 60 and 85mm. The special feature of this bar is the very narrow center part, so even after this bar has been cut down radically there is still space for levers and grips.

pirate Avast Ye! - no hormswaggling here, just selling some lots of fine Surly frames and parts. We got our three pirates on the Surly website! - click on the "1" highway symbol and scroll down to Ontario.

Quoted from the website;

If you see THREE pirate flags, they are true Friends of Surly and should be able to answer questions, fit you to the perfect ride, and get you precisely what you need to live la Vida Surly.
