Seasons Premiere

We are putting on the "Season" premiere in Ottawa at the Bytown Tavern at 292 Elgin St on May 24th in conjunction with OMBA. Five bucks for Omba members and 10 buck for those on the outside. Click our man, Roger, for more info.

I gotta get this one of my chest - what's up with Roger the Shrubber's hair? Imagine taking the time in the morning to get a nice "V"in the front - sweet. Look for me in the future to grow some bangs and get some gel.

Look for some pricing changes with respect to our build kits and custom builds. We are getting killed on the amount of time it takes to put a custom bike together - that includes build time and order time. It usually takes a combined total of around 5 to 6 hours but we have not been charging anything for the labour. Our loaded labour rate is around 40 bucks an hour so we are losing around 200 bucks per bike! On inexpensive bikes (<1500) we are hardly making any money so we will probably have a build fee of 120 per bike up that will be added up to a certain value of bike. Sorry about this but I hope you guys understand that we put a lot of time and effort in to each build and we want to make sure that as a business we make this a reasonably profitable venture (kinda sound like a whacky CEO...now going forward with our 1000 feet view ,,,haha, you'll only get that if you have had to sit through the drivel of a mangers meeting :0) ).

The top five products from last week or so are;

  1. Eastern BMXs
  2. Revenge Tires
  3. Cromag saddles
  4. Formula Brakes
  5. Fox Campus Shorts

But if you want some laughs check out the youtube flicks of the various scenes in the movie. The "Witch logic" (I have posted that one in the past) and the" Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch/Killer Bunny" are gut splitters. Ni and Tim are classics also.....ah hell now I am going to have to rent the movie after watching these.

Update: Sunday May 11, 2008

Eastern BMX Completes have come and gone (almost)

Woh - it was whacked last week. We got in our shipment of Eastern BMX's (twelve in total) and sold 5 in three days. The White Elements are gone and there none left at the distributor either If you want a different bike check here.

Too Much

Wow - we went from a slow March to being completely swamped in April. It was crazy - in one day we took in over 40 bikes for tune ups (I now hate tune ups - :0) ). My guess is that we have built close to 60 to 80 wheels last month too. We have just hired a mechanic for the next couple of months so at least we can get back to answering some emails in the near future. I was just looking at my last update time stamp and it was over a month ago.

Lots of clothing in stock now. Unfortunately for me I grab everything that comes in to see what it is like. My favorites so far is the Fox Campus short, Sombrio JT shirt and the Sombrio Rev short. I did change the price on the JT shirt on the site now too as it was 75 but should have been 55.

I thought the plaid of the Campus short would be a bit on the weird side but they actually look awesome. The JT jersey is really nice in an understated way and supposedly won't stink up after a few sweat sessions (its the Chitosante in the fabric). The Rev shorts are awesome - most DH shorts tend to be thick and bulky cordura but these are a really nice 4 way stretch nylon. I also got the Sombrio Vapor jacket for myself (we are carrying the Mutant jacket), Both are very stylish and the Vapor is very water resistant.

Most of our Five Ten shoes are here, including the Ba5ic, but we are lacking the big fella sizing from 12 to 13s. We are trying to get more in, but Five Ten is also back ordered on them.

Website problems - sometimes the side "product bar" does not always work depending which page you are on. All pages should be visible (except for the individual BMC frames) so if you see the error, click backwards and then hit the "products" on the top navigation bar. You should be able to get to any page then. Sorry I have to figure out what is wrong with some of the code.

Handbuilt wheelsets - just to help avoid confusion as it is not clear at all on the one page I have done...the prices shown are for silver spokes. If you want black spokes it costs an extra 10 bucks and there is a wheelbuild fee for each wheel of 15 dollars (still a bargain compared to any other handbuilt wheel).

Transition Trail or Parks

The new Trail or Parks are in stock. For some odd reason I ordered a gazzillion white frames (well 4 to be exact). The yellow looks awesome this year and raw rounds out the other colors. The big changes to the frame are the integrated headset and spanish BB

The frame section has also been updated with some better pics "borrowed" from the Transition site. Check it out here.

We also now have the temple lite stem is in stock in a run of all the colors.

pirate Avast Ye! - no hormswaggling here, just selling some lots of fine Surly frames and parts. We got our three pirates on the Surly website! - click on the "1" highway symbol and scroll down to Ontario.

Quoted from the website;

If you see THREE pirate flags, they are true Friends of Surly and should be able to answer questions, fit you to the perfect ride, and get you precisely what you need to live la Vida Surly.
